My story
Passionate about RC modeling since childhood, I started with radio-controlled cars at the age of 9, naturally with a few Nikko models from a very young age, like many others. I began with my first 1/8 scale Dagger 4x4 kit from Avioracing, with my dad, and discovered the pleasure of assembling and tuning it, as well as the joy of the pull-start motor and the satisfaction of changing the springs or the string during my Sunday practice sessions at the Blagnac club (formerly BBC). I quickly moved on to competitions with the Dagger but soon found myself limited by its uncompetitive and unreliable mechanics. With great enthusiasm, Jean-Philippe Lacheze, along with his son Jean-Marc, Denis Nardo, and his son Frédéric, took us under their wing. Thus, in my first year of racing, we switched to a 1/8 scale Chrono 4x2 TT chassis distributed by SVM. The competitive adventure truly began, and we participated in all the league races year after year. After both successes and setbacks, my experience grew, and I earned my league championship title and my first star. We continued this momentum, competing in regional races and securing two regional runner-up titles and qualifying for the European Cups. We then moved on to a Chrono 4x2, built on a 4x4 chassis, which led to far too many rear differential failures over the course of a year. Finally, Mr. Aubry kindly built us a Twist, a truly "homemade" car. Mr. Aubry's expertise in design and machining, combined with his son's, made this car a true mark of quality and performance. It was an extraordinary experience for me, just like my first Chrono 4x2. After 10 years of competition, life led me to move on to other things. The years passed, and there wasn't a moment when I didn't think about returning to model building.
That's how, in 2019, I decided to get back into it. Having closely monitored RC forums during those years, I was forced to acknowledge that 4x2 was disappearing from European competitions and leagues, which were showing little interest in this fantastic category. I searched the FFVRC website to look at the different clubs in my region and their results for each discipline. I then noticed a category with a lot of drivers: 1/10 4x2 Electric Off-Road. And so began my return to RC with a Kyosho RB6.6 chassis.
Eager to get back to racing on real 1/8 scale dirt tracks, I had the pleasure in 2020 of joining Team Pilote Donuts Racing, a fantastic team whose colors I'm proud to represent in my various championship races (my Sworkz S35-4E chassis). It's a real opportunity to hone my RC skills and be part of a team that shares and supports each other in all situations. A huge thank you to my sponsor, Donuts Racing, which, in addition to being a sponsor, is first and foremost a true RC family.
Wanting to share this wonderful hobby even more and inspire others to start or rekindle their passion, I began making videos, launched a website to share RC tutorials, and organized VRC-PRO championships with prizes to be won, thanks to our friend Françoise from Picoozfran-modelisme who sponsored us. Later, I created a micro-enterprise and secured my first partnership with Flysky to distribute Flysky FMS 100 RC USB game simulation adapters in France, allowing users to connect a radio transmitter and play VRC-PRO, LIFTOFF, VELOCITY, and other similar games.
The implementation of a PayPal payment module on my website has led me to use a professional e-commerce platform to distribute these products. The growing popularity of my YouTube channel has also prompted some distributors to offer me various RC products. My goal isn't to turn RCBALADE.COM into a huge commercial platform, so my product selection will be limited but highly diversified, focusing on items I consider essential or fun to own.
PS: Following the creation of the rcbalade website, I launched rc4racing.com to present a more professional image and shop, and to distance myself from my Rcbalade image, which was more associated with YouTube media than anything else. Despite the work involved, I've noticed that selling small parts with hundreds of references is very difficult and requires me to wear many hats, plus the profit margins are extremely low. Alongside rc4racing, I'm developing vrcdrivers.com, a website dedicated to championships where I organize VRCPRO events, sell adapters, and offer coaching. So, I created rcbalade, rc4racing, and vrcdrivers. Today, this adventure has allowed me to understand what I want and what I don't want. I'm now focusing on a single website, Rcbalade.com, which brings together vrcpro events, an online shop with merchandise and some equipment, and private coaching.
Count on me to serve you to the best of my ability, your passionate RcBalade.
I thank all Ambassador members, Competition members and essential members, followers and sponsors and all those who support me in this adventure, making all this possible.
